Charles Goodman and business partner, Dale Whetstone, met while employed at a local manufacturing company. Deciding that HVAC was their chosen field, both left to pursue that vocation working for a local HVAC contractor. In the late 1970's, they realized their dream by forming their own company, Stoneman Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. Charles, responsible for Sales and Service, and Dale, for duct work design and installation, are the “dream team” whose knowledge and experience have earned them great respect from customers, vendors and competitors. The company name, created from each partner’s sir name, represents stability and strength attested to by the company's 30+ years in business. Honesty, fairness, sound business practices, first-rate customer service and quality products at competitive prices are the principles upon which Stoneman Heating and Air Conditioning was built and continue to be the foundation for the day-to-day operation of the business.
Derrick Diffee, Sales Manager
Having earned his undergraduate degree from Longwood University and graduate degree from VCU, Derrick left a career in law enforcement in 2004 to join the Stoneman team as Sales Manager. Charles and Dale offered their expertise and knowledge as he learned and excelled in the HVAC business. He spends much of his time meeting with prospective customers and repeat customers assisting them in the selection of the best heating, cooling, and air quality products for their home or business. In addition to Derrick’s outside sales responsibilities, he now also manages the office staff.

A native of Central Virginia, Charles is familiar with the rapid changes in weather conditions in the area and how they affect the performance of heating and cooling systems. Through years of hands-on experience, he has acquired a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise, and is often consulted by suppliers for his opinion on product design and performance. New customers and repeat customers rely on his ability to offer solutions and recommendations to meet their HVAC needs. Charles continues to lead the company and actively participates in its daily sales and service operations.
